Ali Bullivent is a performer and songwriter of cross cultural music whose embracing and liberating themes are rooted in a sense of 'community' and personal transformation. Ali writes, directs and performs for a variety of choirs, arts festivals and community workshop. Her multi-diciplined work has included the a capella vocal trio, 'Cana' and performance groups such as 'Flying Ducks'.

Sat Sept 13th Heritage Day at the Cathedral
‘MAKE AND CREATE’ all age Arts workshops in the North Transept
Make your own ‘Stained glass stories’, ‘mini statues’, and ‘hosts of heavenly angels’. 10.30AM – 12 and 1PM – 3PM
(children to be accompanied by adult please)

Weds 17th Sept Art Walk
As part of the city’s newly established bi-monthly tour of exhibition venues, the cathedral will be open for visitors to see its outstanding collection of contemporary artwork by Steve Simpson. Steve will also be available to talk to visitors about his art work. Ali Bullivent and St Helen’s worship group will be playing gentle acoustic music throughout the eveninng.

Mon 22nd September DISCOVERY
Launch of the new audio tour for children. A chance to experience this exciting spiritual journey. The event will also include short talks and demonstrations of music by Education Officer Ali Buillivent and Sing –Up outreach musician James Squire to show what else is available for young people at the cathedral.

Tues 23rd September PRAISE DRUMMING!
The start of weekly African djembe and percussion workshops in the Cathedral Education Centre. Suitable for beginners or those who have drummed before. Venue – Cathedral Education Centre on Westmoreland Street. Cost - suggested donation £3 per week. Time – 7.30 – 9pm. (children to be accompanied by adult please)

Drumming Hands, praise drumming workshop

Thurs 25th Sept PRAISE SINGING!
The start of weekly singing sessions for everyone who loves to raise their voice in song! If you enjoy gospel, African, Iona and worship music come along. Venue – Treacey Hall. Cost - suggested donation £3 per week. Time – 7.30 – 9pm
(children to be accompanied by adult please)

Tues 28th October HALF TERM WORKSHOPS FOR 7 – 11’S
Exciting and vibrant morning session working with Grassroots Theatre Company from Zimbabwe. Explore Zimbabwean lifestyle through drama and music, sharing in a performance at 1pm in the cathedral. Cost: £2 (goes towards charity work in Zimbabwe) Venue: Treacey Hall. Times: Registration (with parent) 9.15am, session ends 1.30pm. Bring: packed lunch, and clothes and shoes you can move in.

All day drop in ‘arty crafty’ workshops. In marquee on the cathedral grass (weather permitting) or in the Education Room, Westmoreland Street

First of an monthly mass with a Celtic feel. Time: 5.30pm – 6.30pm. Next service on Sat 29th Nov.

Christmas Journey through drama, music and visuals
KS2 2 hours. Become shepherds, wise folk and angels, and create music and songs to explore the symbolism and message behind the Christmas story. Come on an epic journey which will lead you on a perilous voyage across Israel and a dramatic escape to Egypt.
Cost: £2 per student
Suitable for 1 class (approx 30).

Living Faith

Audio tour of Discovery – an exploration of the spiritual meaning of what you see in the cathedral. Plus time for guided reflection, questions and simple act of worship. Suitable for 1 class (approx 30).
