West African influenced Music and Dance - Celebrating diversity and enriching community through the arts

Thomo Lengne are professional musicians and performers include Ali Bullivent, Ibrahim Dumbuya and Mark Taylor. They have an extensive repertoire of lively music and dance influenced by African rhythms, using djembes, african percussion, and singing.

Thomo Lengne’s workshop programme is headed by singer and musician Ali Bullivent and Ibrahim Dumbuya from Sierra Leone. Ali is a qualified teacher and has been facilitating music workshops for many years. Ibrahim has been running dance and drumming workshops in the UK since 2003. Both are CRB checked.

School Workshops

Thomo Lengnes School Workshops explore cultural identity through west african and european arts and allow participants to learn about another culture and explore their own. They can gear workshops towards objectives to be covered in geography, music and RE (Christian and Muslim festivals).

African Dancing at a nursary school class

Nursery, reception and years 1 and 2
Traditional storytelling with participatory music and dance.

Years 3 – 6
Drumming, rhythm, songs and dancing which includes using the themes of school life and farming.

Inset
We are pleased to offer inset training to teachers at key stage 1 and 2 to help embed diversity and the arts into the curriculum.

We also teach West African dance and music to community groups, teachers, facilitator’s and artists.
